What’s you take on home sleep studies versus sleep labs? The Federal Sleep Institute has an interesting profile that details the cost of home sleep test being much cheaper. That true?

Amy: In some instances a home sleep study is a viable option. Their limitation, however, is that they can only detect sleep apnea … someone who uses a home sleep study must then still go into a sleep lab for a titration sleep study to determine the appropriate pressure for CPAP, if that is the proper treatment. Also, sleep studies in sleep labs are used for pother sleep disorders than solely diagnosing sleep apnea. Further, the sleep study done in a sleep lab measures many more factors than home sleep studies are able to, allowing the detection of additional problems. So, the home study is able to detect sleep apnea, but that’s as far as it goes.
Thanks for your question.
