A gentleman named Ken recently recorded a brief video about his experience with CPAP, which is now posted on our website www.shareyourcpapstory.com. Click here to view Ken’s story.
We’ve designed Share Your CPAP Story to help those people who may be discouraged with the way their CPAP therapy is working out. We hope it will encourage those people to stay with it, and to advocate for themselves when something may seem wrong.
By advocating for yourself, we mean asking your CPAP supplier if they have more than one mask you can try. Can you bring it back and try another if you’re uncomfortable? Most of all, demand that they provide you with service after the sale. If your mask is leaking, or feels uncomfortable, or you’re getting water in your tubing, demand that they help you. It’s their job.
And it’s your life.

Good point Shawn. We have a 30/30 guarantee. 30 night comfort and fit guarantee, and more than 30 different masks to choose from.

My company did NOT mention 30 fit or 30/30. They said I had 30 days to try this mask & machine and after that I bought it. That turned out not to be true and I have paid rental for 3 months, even buying the same maks in a smaller size! When I saw the “rental” bill, I told them NOT to bill/buy to my Insurance for the machine until I consulted my Doctor because I had told them from day 4 that this was not working for me. I called frequently, begged to go in and get another lesson or something in how to wear it. Their answer always something like, “just keep trying; people find all kinds of creative ways to make it work for them; give yourself time to adjust…” When they learned I had a Dr appt. suddenly they said I had “mask insurance” and could try others. Three masks later I still do not have a fit. This is 4 months, I am frustrated, crying, angry, desperate…

Judy: It does seem like you’re caught in a Catch 22 type of situation. I suggest talking to your doctor right away – talk to him/her about possibly ordering you an autopap machine 4-20cm – and definitely complain to your doctor about the run around you are getting from them. The only way to get companies to give better service is if they feel they can lose referrals from doctors if they don’t. I also suggest you keep renting it, because if you purchase it, you can’t return it. Unfortunately as long as you have it, they have to rent it or purchase it.
